Ann Dorr

Ann is a story teller, a teacher by profession.

Ann’s purpose in creating this website is to educate, tell through stories, the meaning of the past.

Ann is a fourth generation Los Angeles family.  Her passion is history, namely early Los Angeles as her great-great grandfather Luther Titus came to Los Angeles in 1869 with his family, his wife, and his daughter Mary Titus Newton and her husband.  Los Angeles had a population of 5,700 people in 1869.

Her grandmother, Clara Drysdale Newton was born in 1873.

In 1886, Clara’s parents Mary and Jacob Newton and her sister, May Newton with my grandmother moved to the West Adams neighborhood, the corner of Figueroa and Adams Blvd while Clara and her sister attended the newly opened University of Southern California.  They attended the preparatory school gaining entrance as freshmen in 1889.

Ann has made numerous presentations to organizations, including First Century Family and Town and Gown (alumni group USC) “Horseracing in early Los Angeles” and “North University Park, Changing a Historic Neighborhood – the story of a neighborhood.”.
